Deemed Medical College Admission Overview

Admission in Deemed Universities: The Premium Choice

Deemed Medical Universities are autonomous institutions recognized by the UGC and MCC. They are often the preferred choice for students who miss Government seats by a small margin or those seeking world-class infrastructure without the constraints of state domicile.

Why Choose Deemed Universities?
  • No Domicile Barrier: Admissions are open to students from all Indian states. There is no state reservation.
  • 100% Seat Allocation via MCC: Unlike private colleges where state authorities conduct counselling, Deemed seats are filled centrally by MCC (DGHS).
  • Lower Cutoffs: Due to higher fee structures, the cutoff scores for Deemed universities are significantly lower than Govt/State Private colleges.
  • World-Class Infrastructure: Colleges like KMC Manipal and Symbiosis offer facilities comparable to international universities.

  • Eligibility: NEET Qualified.
  • Fees: High (₹15L - ₹26L per year).
  • Process: MCC Counselling Round 1, 2 & Mop-Up.
NRI Quota

Reserved for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), OCIs, or students sponsored by NRI relatives (Parents/Siblings/Uncles).

  • Eligibility: Valid NRI documents & Sponsorship Letter.
  • Fees: USD $35,000 - $50,000 per year.
  • Benefit: Very low cutoff scores required.
Pro Tip: Many NRI seats remain vacant after Round 2. These are often converted to Management seats during the Mop-Up or Stray Vacancy Round. We help you track these conversions for admission opportunities.
MCC Counselling Process Deemed

MCC Counselling Process (2026)

Admissions to Deemed Universities are conducted 100% by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). There is no separate state counselling.

  • Registration & Payment

Register on mcc.nic.in. You must pay a Non-Refundable fee (~₹5000) and a Refundable Security Deposit of ₹2,00,000.

  • Choice Filling

Select Deemed Universities from the list. Order them carefully based on fee budget and location. Lock your choices.

  • Seat Allotment (Round 1 & 2)

If allotted, download the letter and report to the college. If not, you can upgrade in Round 2.

  • Mop-Up Round

Fresh registration is allowed. This is crucial for students with lower scores as cutoffs drop here.

Stray Vacancy Round Admission

The Stray Vacancy Round: Your Last Chance

For students with low NEET scores (Just Qualified to 300 marks), the Stray Vacancy Round is the golden opportunity.

How it Works:
  • No Fresh Registration: Only candidates registered in previous rounds are eligible.
  • Seat Conversion: Unfilled NRI seats are often converted to General Management seats.
  • College-Level Counselling: In previous years, this was offline at the college. However, MCC rules change annually (sometimes it becomes online). We provide real-time updates on this.
  • 10x Risk: If you are allotted a seat in Stray Round and do not join, you may be debarred from NEET for 1 year. Expert guidance is mandatory here.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Admissions are strictly based on NEET merit through MCC counselling. The fees are high (Management Quota), but officially declared. There is no concept of "capitation fee" or "under-table donation" in the legal process.

KMC Manipal and Mangalore are top-tier colleges with high cutoffs (usually 560+). With 500 marks, admission is difficult in General Management quota but might be possible in the NRI sponsorship category or if cutoffs drop significantly in the Stray round.

To participate in Deemed University counselling, you must pay a refundable security deposit of ₹2,00,000 to MCC. This is refunded if you are not allotted a seat or if you join the allotted seat. It is forfeited if you are allotted a seat in Round 2/Mop-Up and fail to join.
